For over 150 years, 133 Black women were buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery in two communal graves with only a marker that reads “Home for Aged Colored Women”
The ceremony will begin at the Gilman Chapel in the cemetery, followed by a procession to the two burial sites for the unveiling of a temporary memorial designed by artist Ekua Holmes. Join us to reveal their names and honor their lives.
