What is now DotHouse Health began in 1887 as the Fields Corner Industrial School. Two years later, in 1889, the organization moved to Gordon House, located at 7 Gordon Place in Fields Corner. Caroline Callender was one of the founders and was president of the board for over twenty-five years, handling funding, staffing and the planning of programs. She continued to be involved in the organization and contributed a total of forty years of personal service. She was quoted as saying “We aim to make better men and women in both home and civic life by teaching neighborliness.” The organization later moved to Dorchester Avenue, and by 1974, when the new Dot House Health Multi-Service Center building was erected, the organization had become a comprehensive health, day, and community center.  It now has Primary Care and Urgent Care departments, an eye clinic, dental clinic, pharmacy, and laboratory.
