Rose Finkelstein Norwood (1890–1980), a tireless union activist, led the Women’s Trade Union League and fought for women’s work rights and publicly funded daycare.

Rose Finkelstein Norwood (1890-1980), an energetic, indefatigable union activist and organizer, lived at this location in a house no longer standing. Norwood worked in many unions during her career as an organizer and served as president of The Women’s Trade Union League. She fought for the rights of married women to work and keep their pay, and she campaigned for publicly funded daycare for the children of women who worked in the war industry during World War II.
