Founded in 1887 to treat the “diseases of women,” the Vincent Memorial Hospital was named in honor of Mary Vincent (1818-87), a British-born American actress who settled in Boston. For over a century, the Vincent Club, founded In 1892, raised money for the hospital by producing an annual theatrical show. In 1988 the hospital became a department of Massachusetts General Hospital. The club, which moved here in 1957, continues to raise money to support groundbreaking research for the treatment of women globally.
