Mary Vincent, Vincent Club

Founded in 1887 to treat women’s diseases, the Vincent Memorial Hospital was named for Mary Vincent. The Vincent Club, founded in 1892, raised funds through annual theatrical shows.

Founded in 1887 to treat the “diseases of women,” the Vincent Memorial Hospital was named in honor of Mary Vincent (1818-87), a British-born American actress who settled in Boston. For over a century, the Vincent Club, founded In 1892, raised money for the hospital by producing an annual theatrical show. In 1988 the hospital became a department of Massachusetts General Hospital. The club, which moved here in 1957, continues to raise money to support groundbreaking research for the treatment of women globally.
